19th Century Treatment of the Insane.

Often barbaric and inhumane, doctors of the time thought these treatments would not only help insane patients but possibly cure them of their mental illness altogether. They subjected patients to medical experiments that might now be described as torture.

Some of these torturous treatments included:

--Hydrotherapy --Spinning --Ice Baths --Tranquilizer Chair --Near Drowning --Confinement in Small Cells --Chained to walls or beds

These are just a few of the horrific treatments that were supposed to help a patient recover a sane mind.
